God I love shoes and boots. Always have. Who doesn’t?
I like good shoes, not the cheap throw away kind..
A few years ago, my sisters and I were in Vegas. My older sister was renewing her vows for 10th wedding anniversary. She wanted to buy some shoes to wear for the ceremony, so we went shopping. As one does in Vegas.
I just about died right there in the store. We all stayed at The Wynn, some of the best shopping in North America, the shoe stores were stupid good.
So sweet Vanessa found a pair of Jimmy Choos to walk down the aisle in. They were fabulous.
She wore them for all of 20 minutes, loved every minute, and still loves them today. She’s never worn them since and they were worth every penny.
That is the power of a good shoe.
Two of my absolute favourite shoes this season are Nicholas Kirkwood.
A new designer to The Room, Paul Andrew, is making some outstanding shoes as well. So simple, and so hot.
As we know, leopard is a big trend this season, for me, I like it in small doses.. Shoes, a belt, maybe a coat.. That’s just me.
Brian Atwood’s leopard flats.
For the record, I like the purple too.. But would probably do black and leopard first..
Now, for the everyday bootie, yes, you should have a pair.. And yes, you can wear them with skinny jeans, dresses and skirts.
Something like these A.P.C. boots
Or these Rag and Bones.
My favourite flats in the fall are brogues, they are so much more sturdy than a ballet flat, you know? Good in the rain.
My new rain boots are as follows, they are a lot easier to put on and take off then Hunters. Although I have those too, for puddle jumping days.
The absolute perfect Mama boot? Frye Engineer boot – they are totally cute, and waterproof.. They work in the park, play dates and everything else.
They are relatively inexpensive too, in fact, we have sold out of these – twice. I sell them to every mama client.
Finally, I would like to take a minute for slippers.
After wearing heels all day, it’s nice to wear slippers no? Especially slipper that you can run outside in, if you had to.
