The Essential List

May 14, 2011

Anytime I go into a client’s wardrobe, I always start with the essentials.

You gotta have them. Once you do, you can do all kinds of trend shopping, but you have to start with the basics.

With that in mind, let’s just go over the list of essentials (spring/summer), shall we?..

The Black Capri, let’s be honest, the black capri is a year round essential.

White jeans, I may not do white jeans this summer only because I am still carrying Lucy weight.. This doesn’t mean that you can’t wear them though. Besides, Lucy is so worth it.

white jeans

Mid wash jeans, if you want to be a touch trendy you can roll the bottoms and wear a heel, preferably a wedge. It’s cute. However, I wear these with flats, but I am just classic and preppy like that.

skinny mid rise

Speaking of the wedge, these are also great with wide leg jeans, or dresses.. In fact, I think I may buy these.. If I do, I might even roll the cuff of my jeans and wear them.

Wedges

The black flat, it’s hardly necessary to put a picture of these in here, but we all like a picture example, right? Also love a snakeskin flat.

Black flats

Nautical stripes, so great with white jeans.

The white blouse, silk, it hangs so beautifully that I wear this in spite of breast feeding and baby spit up mishaps.

The Cardigan, ooooh I love this one. I have it and wear it constantly.

James Pearse cardigan

The V Neck, camel, nude, beige.. It’s all very hot right now, convenient as I love it all.

The Row v neck

Obviously you need a few t-shirts, I have spent considerable time discussing t-shirts on this blog, and with clients.. My new favourite line is Majestic, but I buy them big for the drape-y hang look. Also Kain is still a favourite.

The Blazer, I have a white one, but I think any nude, camel, beige, or tan version is perfect as well.

Taupe blazer

Now, I know I have been away from work and blogging now for 6 months. I can’t imagine how much you miss me. I am slowly coming back to work though. I have been doing a few wardrobe analyses. I bring Lucy with me. Let me know if we should be discussing your spring wardrobe, and I promise I will be a more prevalent blogger.

Michelle and I are both obsessed with them..

I have narrowed my list down to a few:

Rick Owens, $2500 I love everything about this jacket, and I am sure my life would be amazing with this in it.

Rick Owens $2500

Zara, $300 A close second, and perhaps a touch more affordable..

Zara $300

Vince, $400 A good alternative to a trench coat, which you should have anyway.. The trench, I mean, you should have the trench anyway.

Vince $400

Rag And Bone $270, A classic, you don’t have to buy Rag and Bone, you can buy one at the Gap.

Rag and Bone $270

Maje $620, Just because I am so preppy.

Maje $620

Lover $650, I love this line.

Lover $650

Helmut Lang $800, I love Helmut Lang, this is a perfect professional coat.

Helmut Lang

Speaking of Helmut Lang, Michelle bought the greatest spring blazer I have seen in a while. Except hers is black.

I won’t say how much it is, because that’s rude. Besides she looks amazing in it.
