I love helping my clients define their personal style. Most of the clients I work with just don’t know how to do it anymore… Or they do, but they really don’t have the time… Or, they have some really good pieces, but they don’t know how to put them together… Or, they walk into a store and don’t know where to start.. .Or, they know exactly what they want and they just need help finding it. You get the idea. I think I have the coolest job in the world, for me.

Jessie Carlson Wardrobe has been going for over 10 years. When Nordstrom decided to open their doors in Vancouver, I knew I wanted to be a part of it. I joined the Nordstrom team in September and have had a ball dressing my clients, their husbands, and their children. There is something for everyone in the store.

  • The Rescue Dog

    October 2, 2009

The irony in this post is that I was planning on blogging about rain boots, and other rain appropriate foot wear. I thought I would write about how I love Army & Navy rain boots because they are the ultimate old school rain wear.

My sweet husband and I came home from dinner, we were out for a few short hours, and once we got home I went looking for my rain boots so that I could use them as an example of my top choice for rain boots.

    I found them.

We recently rescued another dog, what can I say, I am a sucker. She was abandoned and looked at us with a pathetically sad face and that was it. Actually, that’s not true, there is more to it, but this is about clothes, and style, not dogs.

Let’s just take another look at the boot.

Now, we have had dogs for a while, I know this happens, and believe me when I say that I have sacrificed thousands of dollars worth of shoes to our dogs. Thousands. The shocking part about this is not that I am apt to spending thousands of dollars on shoes, but that I have let it happen more than once. I am completely at fault, I have left the closet door open, or left a pair under the bed, whatever the reason it should only happen once.

    Except in my case.

I left the closet door open, again.

I picked these up in Paris this summer, they were so cute.

Doesn’t she look guilty? I am going to have to pick up another pair of rain boots, good thing they are less than $20 at Army & Navy. You should too.

    Boots

    September 24, 2009

I think my obsession with boots started over 10 years ago, in London, with a dear friend who goes by the name Patti Black. Patti and I discovered we had a mutual love of shopping, particularly during fall, when boots are available. Patti is now living in London, I miss her, and if I called her today I know she would tell me all about her fall boots.

Allow me to show you a few of my favourites,

Note the shape of the toe, I get asked about the right shape quite often, and the answer is here, boot toe

Jill Sander also has an outstanding black riding boot.

The thing about riding boots is that they are terribly comfortable and therefore are the perfect fall/winter boot. Brown is also a solid choice, Chloé did a nice one this season.

    So did Rachel Comey.

Alternatively, you can choose the short boot, I own these Fiorentini and Baker boots and have worn them to death.

Fiorentini and Baker are famous for the motorcycle boot, but I have gotta be honest, I don’t like them. It’s like spending over a thousand to look tough. Tough people don’t buy it.

After the riding boot comes the heeled boot, I don’t think these ever go out of style, unless of course the toe is pointed (see toe above).
